"우리 같이 파티해요(Let's party)"

21일(현지시간) 스페인 바르셀로나 산호르디 클럽, 경쾌하고 트렌디한 클럽음악이 울려 퍼지며 LG전자의 전략 프리미엄폰 G5가 베일을 벗었다.

세계최대 모바일 전시회인 '모바일 월드 콩그레스(MWC)2016' 개막하루전, 삼성전자의 갤럭시 S7이 공개되기 5시간 전이었다.

무대에 오른 조준호 LG전자 MC사업본부장(=사장)은

"스마트폰 시대가 지났다고들 하지만 그렇지 않다. 우린 스마트폰의 새로운 친구들을 만들었다." 며 G5들 들어보였다.

LG전자가 지난해 10월 'V10'이후 4개월만에 공개한 G5는 '손안의 테마파크'를 표방했다.

조 사장이 말한 '친구들'은 '프렌즈'로 명명된 모듈형 부속기기다.

G5와 연결해 스마트폰 이상의 즐거움을 제공하겠다는 컨셉이다.

공개된 모듈은 총8개.

특히 2개(LG캠플러스.LG하이파이플러스) 모듈은 스마트폰 하단부의 기본 모듈을 서랍처럼 꺼내 분리하고 그 자리에 끼워넣는 합체형이다.

LG전자 측은 "마치 어릴적 합체.변신로봇을 갖고 노는 듯한 재미를 느낄 수 있도록 구성했다."고 설명했다.

전반적으로 '키덜트'를 위한 하이앤드(=Cutting Edge) 토이 같은 인상이다.

특히, 캠플러스는 카메라 손맛을 겨냥했다.

캠플러스를 끼우면 DSLR카메라처럼 셔터,줌 버튼을 직접 눌러 촬영할 수 있다.

하이파이 플러스 역시 고성능 오디오를 스마트폰에서 즐길 수 있다.

이외에도 유.무선으로 G5와 연결해 쓰는 프렌즈 6종이 더 있다.

LG전자가 처음으로 선보인 가상현실(VR = Virtual Reality) 헤드셋 'LG360VR'은 118g의 가벼움을 무기로 내세웠다.

'LG360캠'은 사방이 촬영되는 스틱형 카메라다.

모듈8종은 G5본체와 별도로 판매될 예정이다.

G5는 겉옷도 풀 메탈로 갈아입었다.

애플이 제시한 메탈 스마트폰이라는 표준에 삼성(갤럭시 G6)에 이어 LG도 합류한 것이다.

초미세 컬러입자를 금속표면에 붙여 실버.티탄.골드.핑크 4가지 색깔을 구현했다. (색깔을 입히 않는게 보기좋았을텐데....)

풀 메탈인 아이폰이나 겔럭시 S6와 달리 베터리 교환이 가능하다.

LG전자가 삼성에 앞서 전략폰을 공개하며 선제공격에 나선데는 LG의 위기감이 반영됬다.

LG G시리즈는 글로벌 시장에서 "낀 프레임폰"으로 분류된다.

명품폰의 위상을 굳힌 아이폰이나 갤럭시 S, 가성비를 자랑하는 화웨이,샤오미 같은 중국 폰으로 부터 협공을 받았기 때문이다.

반격이 늦어진사이 LG전자는 세계 스마트폰 시장에서 7위로 밀려났다.

애플.삼성과 명품 경쟁이냐, 가성비 좋은 폰에 집중하느냐의 선택에서 LG전자는 '재미있는 폰'이라는 제3의 노선을 택했다. (올해 2016년에 출시 예정이 Google Ara폰과의 경쟁이 기대된다.)

새 출발을 선언한 G5의 시장 출격은 3월말~4월초다.

가격은 80만원 전후로 예상된다.

V10 은 79만원대 였다.

올해 MWC에선 VR을 신기한 기술 이상의 서비스로 구현하는 시도가 많다.

삼성전자는 22일 오전 3시에 열리는 갤럭시S7 공개현장을 360도 방향에서 촬영한 VR영상을 생중계한다.

5세대 통신을 세계최초로 시연하는 KT도 '5G VR 스테이션'을 통해

서울에서 보낸 VR 영상 6개를 VR 컨텐츠 하나로 합성,송출한다.
